IMO avoid the Essex V4 & V6 models, (not that many V4s made it here anyway I believe)

I had a 1974 mk1 GXL , 3 litre 4 speed manual. I wouldn't buy another one. Fun to drive but it seemed every warrant there was something to do, also rust was settling in under the door sills. But I guess thats the case with older vehicles. Black vinyl roof , orange car, certainly got a few looks.

Agree. Later (rubber bumper model) probably sat a couple of inches higher.

What about the 2.8i ones?

It's a cortina with nice cloths on, so hardly problematic. 1600 only just enough to haul, 2 litre much better. Plenty of potential in these engines. I've had no problem with couple of Essex v6 3 litre motors, not exciting lumps but can move well enough. Seem to need good cooling systems, though maybe in a ford it's sorted. Later 2.8 a lovely car and increasingly expensive now. Would be a bit easier to exit than mgb. Do you fancy reliant scimitar? Solid chassis, solid fibreglass, 3 litre Capri running gear.

Depending on what Cortina Mk you're talking about I have a English two door Mk3 Cortina, nothing wrong with the cloths that's wearing. Each to their own taste I suppose.
It's just a type o don't always hit the right keys when posting messages with you iPhone. Oops that's your.

Where'd all the 4 Doors go? More Capri's than Goats around now!

the 2 door mk3 Cortina is a nice looking vehicle , imho. Especially the very last of them . 1976 , but never many of them in NZ, as we never made them here ( as far as I know ).

Yeah your right Goatina's would be rare as rocking horse poo lol.

No they weren't made in NZ and although my two door is a 1972 it does have a Mk5 dash and switches.

He wants it cooked for longer! Then it will go more fast.

I once had a 1972 Cortina MK3 GT and a 1968 Cortina MK2 GT. Must be rare now.

I wouldn't mind the Aussie 6 engined Concertina, with the top loader option.

None of them stopped very well. Until they hit something, so watch out for frontal repairwork.

The 1990s one based on the Mazda Familia would be a more reliable proposition these days. Also a turbo model shuould be faster.

Ha haa! I drove one of these once - they were a "convertable" style, and boy-oh-boy, what a flexi-flier it was. Handled like it was made out of wet cardboard.
