Can you say if this Saab has turbo please

whqqsh, Jun 26, 3:38pm
it has 'sparkling plugs' so they'd beat a turbo hands down lol

kevlight, Jun 26, 3:41pm
thats very informative, i wonder if ,someone who actually knows has a informed information ,thanks

whqqsh, Jun 26, 3:47pm
asking the seller would surely be the best bet?

ntalke, Jun 26, 3:50pm
Carjam does not tell you much, most Saab's of this era were Turbo

robotnik, Jun 26, 4:07pm
The turbo ones can famously out accelerate Ferraris from 80 to 120km/h or thereabouts. Presumably all you would need to do is boot it and see if it takes off at Ferrrari like speeds to determine if turboed or not.

It's a CS model and I'm sure it's non Turbo.

hi-ling, Jun 26, 7:09pm
No its NON turbo. The vin code comes back as:
Model: Saab 9000
Model Year: 1995
Body type: 5-door 9000 CS (5CS)
Engine: B234I 4-inline, Fuel injection, PETROL, I (B234 I) 110kw
Gearbox: 5-speed manual / Front wheel drive
Plant: Trollhättan, Sweden, line A (9000)
Market: Model series II, Driver airbag
Serial number: 000707.

So the 110kw engine is the standard non-turbo 2.3 motor

I understood SAAB went broke and there is no more parts etc, why would you buy something you cant get parts for?

saab went bankrupt in 2011 then were bought out by another company. You can still get new saabs don't know what parts supply for old models will be like, always rubbish supply in NZ anyway

yellowsubmarine, Jun 28, 6:16am
Parts company for saab is separate to the car building side, they are still business as usual.

The Chinese own the car building side, developing an electric car.

kevlight, Jun 28, 1:51pm
Parts for older model Saabs are readily available , i have had no trouble keeping my two, a 1986 Aero and a 1995 NG on the road ,head lamps and side lights and dash fittings ,cheaper than my 04 Ford Courier;;
,,,,
Wind screen was here, tinted and installed before the Nissans Sentra even arrived from supplier,, at half the cost (was second hand but polished and tinted before install) Nissans was new but took three weeks to get here .

,,,,,, Im very happy with my Saabs, in this horrible snow and ice , heated seats ,built in roll cage if needed ! all for $3k ,ABS ,heated mirrors Air bags, brilliant seats ,,,

,,,,,,,but they are a heavy Car and not to good on gas around town 15 to 18 ltr per 10 klm is that particularly bad , im only going 6 kays back and forth to work and groceries , shops etc ?
And the barstad radio code is lost ,,
,,, any body find me the radio code ?for a NG Saab, nz New, rego number TE 7381 , im having no luck since i left the lights on and lost the rdio code . Help ,,, thanks Kev

Nearly bought a late model 9-3 recently and was delighted with it. Drove well, no BMW in steering eye but fun, low pressure turbo gave good pull low down, nicely made solid feeling. But I wanted a wagon so let it get away. There's even a guy in Nelson here who specialises in parts for them.
The one op is looking at it even less unusual having the shared platform. No problem, lots of car for money.

carkitter, Jun 28, 4:00pm
Why not consider the Lancia Thema or Alfa 164 which shared the same platform? The Alfa was arguably the best car out of the Fiat/Lancia/Alfa/Saab project but the Lancia was by far the most interesting with Delta Integrale and detuned Ferrari V8 engines available.

If I was going to choose a Saab it'd be:
1) a 900 Turbo Convertible
2) a 900 Turbo Hatchback
3) a 99
4) a 9-3 Turbo Hatch preferably a Viggen if possible

Paint yours silver.

headcat, Jun 28, 11:44pm
The guy got ripped if he paid for a cam belt change.

topgear01, Jun 29, 1:12am
And it's never failed a warranty.

tony9, Jun 29, 1:30am
Well it has Nitrogen in the tyres so it could cope with a turbo.

rlr29, Apr 13, 5:24am
Sounds like something Saab. Premium consumables and diamond encrusted sparkplugs.
