Put it in a Mk 1 Cortina. Thats what we used to do years (and years) ago.
Usually adapters/ modifications to fit Sierra or Toyota boxes.

The transmissions used were identical to those used in the 2.0 models but with different bellhousings to fit the 2.3, these were the C3 and the type B 4 speed manual. All of them that were assembled/sold locally were auto Ghia sedans but other variants were privately imported.

my Mk 3 GT Mk 4 and Mk5 SW were 2L manuals the Mk3/4 had same ratio the Mk 5 was little higher as there were 3 difs i think Mk5 188kph at 6,000rpm yet the Mk3 was 175kph at 6,000 The Mk5 Ghia were 2.3V6 with high ratio dif some put the 2.0L back n and the gearing was that high it was a grind to get the 2.0L out to 120kph in 2nd v 80kph
Mk3 went to the drags at thee ole baypark 1989 doing best 18.01 @ 76mph with and old v8 Plymouth auto doing 17.99 the best was leaving a 327 HQ off the line in the wet and cross the line at the same time never took the Mk 5 to the strip but was much quicker slight cam extractors oversize jets for a car of its time it also went round corners very well i wasn't into burning rubber to much but having traction was much more fun

Stick it in a mk1 escort van or mk1 two door.

Mk5 2.3 ran basically the same gearing as the equivalent 2.0 sedan, it was 3.44 vs 3.45. My recollections on what was factory fitted was: All Mk3 2.0. 3.44 All Mk4 2.0. 3.75 (why I don't know, it was really too low) Mk5 2.0 sedan 3.45 Mk5 2.0 wagon 3.75 Mk5 2.3 sedan 3.44
1600's of all had 3.89 except for the MK5 which was a 3.78. There was also a type A and B axle housing used, the B was a heavier duty one used in 2.0 wagons and I think also Mk4 sedans used it, different sized wheel bearings too. A lot of these got swapped between vehicles over the years from what I saw from working on them.
