which one? there is two different model Navaras with 2.5 diesels in that year, the D22 or D40.

Only d22's in 2004. They will be the direct injection model yd25ddti engine.
These are prone to the injection pump failing due to the electronics in the top of it. Other than that and maybe cam chain issues its an o.k motor.
I wouldnt want to own a 4wd one having worked on a 2wd one it was bad enough the 4wd one would likely make me want to set a match to it.

afaik (i don't follow d40 i have d22) 2004 is the first year of the D40. not sure exactly when they where first sold here.
fortunately no 4x4 yd25 D22 (non-CR) where sold here by nissan (no idea on 2nd hand imports) which is a good thing cause they have a habit of throwing a rod through the block, to which there was a lawsuit against nissan in the UK.
