Hi there, my work mate is looking at one of these has done 147,000 and had the cam belt done at 110,000 it is a 5 speed manual so not sure if clutch has been done but drives well currently. Do these have any major faults that should be considered, or are they basicly a good little car. It will be used for a commute to work so 100 km a week on average. Thanks in advance!

My wife drives one of these. It has done 260,000 and still driving like new. We are very happy with it, no major faults. Cambelt and associated ancillary components are easy to change when the time comes. We did have to have the clutch changed at 220,000 because the thrust bearing failed. No biggie.

Do NOT go to a franchised dealer for parts. Use an independent like redwood auto or the internet.

I have one and it is the best car I have ever had, and that included VW's etc. I have been driving it for seven or eight years and all it has cost me is tyres and oil changes. Absolutely love it and would not have anything else now. As an aside have thought of upgrading the year but can't see the point given its reliability. Hope this helps.

If he likes it and it fulfils his/her needs, just go ahead and own it. They are are an excellent vehicle with long life mechanicals as owners will attest to.

Hey thanks for the advise regarding the 307. She is now going to have a look at it after work today with a view to having a pre purchase inspection carried out.

PPI are a good idea if carried out by an expert. In this case, the car should be appraised by an independent Pug specialist garage. IMHO you should avoid the likes of the AA or VTNZ who I wouldn't trust with my lawnmower.

I think she is taking to the dealership to have checked. I agree I wouldn't trust AA or VTNZ with a PUSH mower!
