getting water in L/H floor well, any known common causes, leaky heater hoses etc ?, seems to be coming from that area of the firewall.

Is it leaking all the time or just when its raining? eg ( If its got a blocked air con drain hose then the heater box will drip water on to the left front floor but thats pretty uncommon and would only happen when the air con is on for some time. A more common problem would be a water leak from a panel joint but only when its raining.)
