First they are not legal, second, usually not bright enough for headlamps. Markers maybe but not headlamps yet. OE ones in an Audi are about $3500 option.

I have seen 6V Hi/lo beam 15/10W Leds in old car. Definitely a big improvement over the old 25/20W fitted as factory and use a fraction of the Amps so is much kinder to the electrics.

Search for DC6-36V Width Voltage 15W 1650LM Motorcycle LED on the bay.

You can use them but they will be sh#t, and not be legal.
There are other options out there but they are a lot more expensive to do correctly.

Also as above look for a high Lumen output.

gsimpson, Apr 30, 4:43am
I disagree that they are sh#t. Having seen the ones I quoted in use they much superior to the original bulbs while using less power. That is, I have driven the car at night with both OE bulbs and LED. The car has a WOF.
The bulbs were ~$35 each.

My mate has a high/low 12v led headlight. It's bright, fan assisted to cool it.

How can you tell there using less power?

gsimpson, Apr 30, 6:01am
Ammeter. Also they are rated at less power (W) but as they are more efficient they put out more light.
Like the ones for your house. The 10W LED bulbs put out as much light as much more power hungry incandescents.

I got some 6000k "HID" LEDS off deal extreme. They are bloody bright enough allright.

Put up a link to the ones you have.
Every one I have seen shaped like the ones that show up in the google search for the OPs words are rubbish.
They usually put out 700-800 lumens, a standard headlight is around 1500-1800+ lumens.
The ones I got are 2000 lumens, they cost me around $170 for the set but they are quality.

Direct links on here to ebay will probably get spiked. Try using the search I suggested in post 3

Those bulbs are for fog lights not headlights. Although I note a lot of motorists in NZ don't know the difference between the two.

gsimpson, Apr 30, 8:05am
These ones are similar http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-2015-H4-H6-LED-COB-Spot-Head-Light-Motorcycle-Headlight-Bulb-32W-3000lm-12V-DC/32313193846.html

Note 32W so half the power of basic headlights with 3000LM
Note that the ones for headlights can be focused not like the fog light ones.

vivac, Apr 30, 8:23am
Those are the ones that come up under the OPs search terms.
The ones you have linked to are more similar to the ones I got, mine have a separate driver unit and hi/lo, little fans on the back of the lamps for cooling etc

Mine are very similar to these. They actually cost more like $100, I remembered wrong.

We got onto those looking for a solution for decent light on an old car with 6V electrics. 6V motorcycle LEDs were the solution as using more powerful standard lights wasn't an option as the generator had limits.

Cree led bulbs are the best not cheap and nasty
