workmates '96 2.2 Camry has charge light come on after a while, when gets to full temp usually. Basic tester shows good battery,and good charge when cold,, but when charge light comes on shows no charge. Assume alternator?

and check the drive belts, heat does funny things to a stuffed belt checking the alt may not show the issue cos it will still be cold - the inbuilt reg has a temp compensation - and that maybe failing at higher op temp

Ive put a couple of sets of brushes into ours, once at 160k and again at 310k. Only a couple of screws to change out complete with the holder assy. Disconnect Battery pos terminal first. Nearest Auto leckie in Richmond had them in stock. Very easy to remove the holder before you buy to check the brush length.

Is this at idle or at any RPM? If it's just at idle I'd say the much lower hot idle is causing the tired alternator to drop out.

+1 costs about $10 to have it checked, and brushes will show up immediately, normally its the first thing they check, and they do a manual eyeball check at that
