Holden VZ for towing.

I currently have a VX car which I use for towing Caravan which it does really well. however. a wagon would be good, fit longer stuff in etc. Looking at a VZ wagon. how do those 3.6L engines go for towing compared to the old 3.8L and are the transmissions the same? Comments appreciated

My vz adventra towed good, but make sure of which towbar is fitted, do not go by the tongue fitted, check the plate on the bar itself. Also fit air shocks for any serious loads.

Transmissions are exactly the same 4L60E

I have personal towing experience with both engines (a VXII and a VE). Both were the V6 with the 4 speed autos. The 4 speed suits the lazy 3.8 very well, however it doesn't suit the comparatively revvy nature of the 3.6 too well at all in my opinion. And towing the same load on the same trip the 3.8 used slightly (0.2L/100kms) less than the 3.6. I didn't notice too much power difference but the 3.6 had a wee bit more in when booted, also the 3.6 is noticeable louder when working.
