Mazda 3 seat belt alarm fault

My 2008 Mazda 3 seems to have seat belt alarm fault. One rear seat belt alarms when not in use and nothing is on the seat. As you can imagine this is annoying. Haven't waded through the handbook yet but have checked the obvious, nothing on the seat, seat belt properly unfastened etc. Unless Mr Invisible is sitting on the seat i'm not sure what's causing this. May have to visit the Mazda service to get it checked or disabled. I guess it's not a legal requirement to have the alarms? I am licenced to carry passengers so must check on that, Anyone had this seat belt alarm problem.

Reading on the interweb seems to suggest Mazda can disable the system through the OBDII port. It is also likely they can fix whatever the fault is.

Thanks saxman, yes it does seem Mazda could disable or fix it. I'd never drive without a seat belt on so not as if I need to have warning alarms but guess recent cars just have this now? I find this an unnecessary nuisance when it malfunctions.
