1996 Terrano Diesel Idle Fault

1996 Terrano (Auto), When stopping at lights or intersection rev's don't drop straight back to idle. Sticks at around 1000 to 1200 for a few seconds then drops to 600 -700rpm. Any ideas! Thanks.

has it got a aircon!
other possibility is a rooted injector pump from (ulsd diesel) all diesel need a lubricative additive to prevent ulsd-problems like winns-edt or chemtech.

Idle speed problems can be from air in the fuel injector lines. Other clues that this might be the case are not starting quite as well as it used to, and/or a little white smoke on startup, and/or missing under load / higher revs.
But could be many things, injectors, pumps. Not easy to diagnose over the 'net.

One engine that unnecessarily has a AFM.

and being a nissan they run like b*t*h when they have a leak in the induction system.

take the intake hoses offon the passengers side of the engine bay. turn it overinspect and flex them. you will see a split around it. common fault.

Yep, the hose between the air filter box and turbo.
