1997 Toyota ST215 4 wheel drive Has Beams engine. Any thoughts on fault finding as radiator fans are not starting. Does any one know what activates the start of the fans. Thanks for any ideas where to start

They usually start either when air cond is turned on or when motor gets hot enough. If it is cold weather the fans may not start at all.

there should be a sensor around the vicinity of the thermostat housing?check the wire is still attached?mine was not.

From memory they do have a temp switch/sensor on the thermostat hosing You unplug with the engine running and the fans will start. The switch goes from an earth to an open curcuit as it heats up. They also have another feed from the air con circuit and if the a/c isn't working (low on gas) it wont turn on the second fan if it has two. The relays will be in the electrical relay/fuse box by the battery and from memory again the relays are under fan 1 and fan 2.
