Hi, im looking at buying a BF upwards but really want 1 with the 6 sp auto, a few aucs ive asked on have said yes but when ive googled the model, XT or Futura etc it says they still had a 4 sp auto? are 2007 or BF 2 upwards all 6sp? Is it only Fairmonts? XR6? any info be great, Thanx

Right. The BF was the first falcon to offer the ZF6HP26 auto. In NZ it was standard on XR6, XR6 turbo, XR8, and Fairmont Ghia (6&8 cyl). It was an option on regular Fairmont but was uncommon. BF2 things were much the same. With the exception of the BF2 XT sport no XT or Futura ever had the 6 speed auto in NZ.

ESP or DSC or whatever you want to call it was standard on BF/BFII Ghia, BFII XR6, BF/BFII XR8 and some Fairmonts

BF's came out with either the old BTR 4 speed or ZF 6speed.I think the BFII's all went to 6 speed.A 5 speed auto was available in the later FG's.

More changed to 6 speed but no some were still 4 speed BTRs

In NZ, FG 2008-2010(late) all had the 6 speed auto except for the XT which had the problematic 5 speed auto. After late 2010 all had the 6 speed auto. Until recently they were the ZF ones but since then have moved to a Chinese branded one.

You can tell the 6 speed from the 4 speed(or in FG 5 speed) in falcons because the 6 speed has a leather wrapped gear lever with a leather patch on the top of the stick whereas the 4 speeds are un wrapped and have silver top and 5 speeds are leather wrapped but have silver top to gear lever.
Hope that makes sense
