This is a year 2000. Question is can I Chip it up without doing anything else to it, is no extractors etc. And at no great cost.

Yep, sure, but there wont be much benefit. All some cheap chips do is shift the redline upward and use more gas according to some BMW forums.

Oh OK I may just leave it.Yes they are fast and I shall Never see its potential. One other question though. Radar detectors What is a good make model that works without paying 1K? New or used.

Yep I think they have the sport mode on the transmission. Ups the revs and brings the power on straight away. Plenty of power for everyday fun really. Check the rocker gasket for leaks and an oily smell.
