Insurance comparison 2018

billyfieldman, Aug 29, 9:22pm
I'm looking for cheaper options since current one is coming up for renewal soon. Discovered these two comparisons and thought I'ld share them here in case others are also looking.

Anyone had bad experiences with the IAG underwritened ones? They seem cheaper?

It would interesting to see what the policy wordings are. Just make sure they are comparing apples with apples. E,G. are excesses the same, are there driver age restrictions etc.

Also are you getting an agreed value policy? Some, apparently, say agreed value but then if a total loss only pay market value which can often be a lot less than you expect and in some cases even still owe on your finance agreement.

i went with FMG because they where the only company that rang back. none of the others wanted my money, i couldn't give it away.

They also cover younger drivers without increasing the premium, they have a simple sliding scale of excess for different ages. Blimmen brilliant and the correct way to insure people.

This really only applies to the ones doing the repairs.
Their policy prices are good for the punters. Probably on an equal with sorting claims out time wise. But pay crap hourly rates to the repairers.

How about Swann? Part of the IAG.

OP asked about costs. IAG are usually up amoungst there in the cheaper cost department. They are just crap as far as the Panelbeaters are concerned, but that's not your problem.
Although it might be if the Panelbeater is getting screwed so much that they might have to take some short-cuts.

Here is the latest survey on how Insurance Co's are rated.

Now you can almost discount Medical Assurance. That's for Dr's etc, and they pay very good on the odd occasions that someone does work for them. Some repairers might have never done any work for them, or no more than once in a blue moon.
