2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.0 V6 X-Type 2.0
just looking for personal transport under $5 and spotted this ?
since when did Jaguars become front wheel drive ?

dbolton, Oct 15, 1:24am
Probably when Ford Bought them and used Mondeo as there source product

3tomany, Oct 15, 3:27am
Yip when ya jag is actually a mondeo then it pulls itself.

Some of that junk is all wheel drive is it not,x type?!

tamarillo, Oct 15, 4:08am
Brief affair that didn't last, X type was the only jag that had fwd option, though it feels like most here were the 4wd versions. As said it's based on mondeo, but really, for a cheap jag, what's wrong with that?

intrade, Oct 15, 4:45am
snap . was gona say probably when they beacme rebadged fords.
a mazdaguar next .

Jaguar now has nothing to do with Ford or Mazda. X type was the only FWD jaguar made, and most of these were the 4WD variant

kazbanz, Oct 15, 6:56am
kevlite--the FWD one is the only X type I would buy.
the awd ones wer orrible.

vtecintegra, Oct 15, 7:06am
What was wrong with the AWD? The FWD was only on very basic models with tiny underpowered engines

kazbanz, Oct 15, 9:11am
Have a look at the list of faults with the awd version.
As far as Im aware the original tech behind em was the Mazda V6 engine/drivetrain. Ford uplifted the tech and told their boffins to fix the problems.-mazda foccussed on their 4 cylinder stuff.
Then Ford gave the drivetrain to Jaguar to use,

vtecintegra, Oct 15, 10:00am
Uhh the FWD to the same engine just smaller. You get the same problems just with less performance.

kazbanz, Oct 15, 10:15am
Nope not the same issues

kevlight, Oct 15, 2:45pm
bugger cross one wantabe Jag off the list , I fancied cruising around ,all 'Arthur Daley' like, perhaps time to go back to my dream of owning a Fraser 7 ,not practical ,not a hatch and no towbar ,, exactly the opposite of what we need !

phillip.weston, Oct 16, 8:50am
The V6 in the X type was the Duratec series engine designed by Ford, not Mazda. Jaguar further developed the engine from Ford/Mazda's versions as well.

Could know of one for sale soon in Christchurch Kev. Won't be cheap though. Local built, cycle guards, alloy and green. Toyota 4AGE powered.

Silly buggers trying to compete in an already crowed market . Wasnt a bad style for mid size saloon & if theyd put in a RWD platform itwould have sold better . The FWD & AWD & there inherent problems turned off jag fans in a big way & others went for cheaper cars of same size .
