BA Falcon Tyres

curlcrown, Jul 8, 3:41pm
Need to replace the rear tyres because it lets go at the slightest hint of a damp road. The fronts are near new but triangles and I don't want to put them on the rear because having driven a falcon with near new triangles it was just as bad as mine is now. Anyone with first hand experience able to make a recommendation?

They're after market alloys with 235 40 18 tyres and I'm wondering if that is exacerbating the problem.

most of the time its the make of tyre, but lower the profile and in the wet the more chance of it letting go

What are the road surfaces like where the car lets go?
Black Lion does a tyre in that size but tyres can vary mould size to mould size and shipment to shipment.

Look at the back end/ suspension to see there is no obvious problem.
Need a bag of sand in the boot to balance the car?

Those Falcons do like to let go in the arse end with the torque on tap, theres a lot of oil on the road in the city especially!

True but the heavier the car the less chance of it recovering A light car lets go it grabs again.

Ive mainly owned Falcons & Commodores & so some years ago I had light arsed VN that would let go at any whiff of decent throttle. Tried a few brands without going silly on price & they were all pretty bad. Called into Herb Morgan & they reckoned Michelin, holy crap, I could take off quicker in the wet with them than in the dry with anything else Id tried. I don't use anything else now on big cars now & just put 4 Michelin Primacy's on my Crewman Cross 6, 225/ 55/ 17, with wheel alignment for $1k.
