Mk 3 Mondeo Key Programming

Got a new key fob for my 06 Mondeo wagon (as one of the old ones seemed to die - replaced battery and still wouldn't work). Swapped the blade over, and programmed the new fob. The new fob opens and locks the doors fine, but the car won't start with the new fob. The remaining working fob works fine. Anyone have any suggestions as to why this is? Or how to get the car to start with the new fob?

every car has 2 systems one is the doors and one is the immobiliyer for the engine. the immo is a powerless Rfid chip in the key. you need to have that also and also programm the immobiliyer most probably called pats system.

Thanks for the responses - more googling had me pulling out the PATS rfid thingy from the old key fob and putting it in the new fob. Could then start the car, but then the buttons didn't work. But I can lock/unlock the car with the key in the door. Go figure. But turns out is it not so expensive to get the new key programmed by a dealer, so I'll let them do it for me and get on with my life.

Mr Minute can do it as long as you take both keys to him. Cheaper than the dealer.
