Check the vacuum advance diaphragm isn’t stuffed. Also check fuel delivery pressure and volume.

Garbage in the petrol tank outlet area?

If it's still starting and running smoothly I'd be surprised if it was a fueling issue.
I'd be putting a timing light on it and checking the advance and retard first.

as evin to speed up abit

the-lada-dude, Jul 20, 4:17pm
well that cuts out the throttle linkage, if it spits/ backfires through the carb > very late in the ig timing very lean or burnt intake valve, . check the valve lift or cam timing or hydraulic lifters are pumping up with shitty oil ?

Il check the advance and retard give it a new filter and oil C what happens

Pull the filter out of the carb top (assuming its still got the Weber ADM on it) and check the state of it, it lives behind a brass plug. Someone may of course have fitted an in line filter somewhere. If it's a wagon, ute or van rust in the fuel tank could be an issue by now, or maybe the fuel pump is just getting tired. If the pump isnt working well the pickup in the tank may well be gummed up. If all this seems OK a check to see the distributor advance isn't siezed if it's an early model would be a good idea.
