5 speed box have trouble sometimes getting into gear when driving, ideas?

Could also be the clutch dragging or a faulty pilot bearing.

Possible yes to all the above. 90's Nissan manual gearbox's not the strongest by a mile. Even the auto's of that era suffer badly.

Is your clutch fluid level okay? Had one that had a stuffed slave cylinder that was leaking badly.

Yes to kingfisher, or could be pressure plate warped. If its box then a slightly lighter oil could help when cold.

One particular gear? All gears? Does releasing and reapplying the clutch make any difference? Worse when cold? More info needed. A linkage or clutch problem is more likely than something internal.
