I have a 2004 HSV GTS Coupe valued at $50k & insurance is $849 pa
My son has a 2000 Nissan Skyline GTR-34 valued at $140k & insurance is $1400 pa
I have tried numerous online sites & my insurance seems expensive compared to my sons, On the ANZ site I would only pay $50 pa more if I insured my sons car in my name compare to my car even though his is valued at $90k more.
Anyone got any recommendations for my car. I travel less than 5000km per year, both cars are alarmed in a locked garaged which is also alarmed.

My rego is more expensive than his too, nzta told me it’s based on risk i.e theft or accident. I thought this would make his more expensive but, not so.

I have my GT Corolla with AA under a classic policy after I jettisoned IAG from my life earlier this year. Agreed value of $8k, $250 excess, 5000km/year limit. $112 a year. IAG had just tried putting it up from $300 a year to nearly $450.

I had a look around at other insurers that offered 'agreed' value but it turns out that isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Not sure if they cover 'modern' classics, my old Corolla is 33 years old, you could just give them a call. When I called I spoke to a really helpful young guy who was based in New Zealand.

Yes, unfortunately my car is stuck in between a classic & a modern car but, will give them a call, thanks

We also switched to AA because of the "agreed value" which also translated into only a slight increase of premium from our previous "Market value".

Cost would most likely be on Safety rating, like a mustang would cost heaps as it has a poor safety rating while a , chev, dodge,BMW, merc or Volvo would be cheaper to insure, insurance is also based on history, don't matter how much HP you have, its all about risk, if its still a current model and rating

sounds about right to me, $100 either way.

Club deals are often best, maybe a Holden club has a broker on board.
If not search for broker that works in classic /specialist market and get them to get deal.
