loaned it to a freind and now it wont drive foward or back ,manual box , its like something locking in the gearbox or rear diff , I took the rear drvie shaft off and put diff lock in and drove it home ok ,,,,an thoughts or common problems , Cheers

so sounds like something in the gearbox has got tangled, maybe they were driving on road in 4x4. so diff is OK since you drove it home fine. I would put it on a hoist and see if the output shaft is turning at the back of the gearbox. Hook the driveshaft back up on the hoist and try turn the wheels by hand first. Then just go from there doing the elimination. Might have to take the top off the gearbox have a look.
