Toyota rav4 overheating

passer, Aug 9, 11:54pm
good day to all, i have a rav4 1999 manual shift that had been standing since January. it started with the first turn of the ignition. I power rinsed the engine and after driving it suddenly overheated. It never overheated before. Thank you for your help

Washing an engine isn't going to cause it to overheat. If you didn't dry it off afterwards there will be a lot of steam under the bonnet, especially if a lot of water got caught in the radiator. If it has overheated a slim possibility is that the thermostat has siezed due to lack of use.

so when it overheats did the fan blow on the radiator?
also you dont pressure wash electronics crap on engine causes shorts and corrosion. VW have big warning stickers undr the bonnet telling do not pressure wash. for that exact reason.

If only the Rav 4 had a VW bonnet fitted OP would not be in such deep doo doo.
