i have a new hilux 3 litre ute,just wondering what oil people are using .one Toyota dealer reckoned Castrol Magnatec professional 10w30.another said Delo 15w40.the reason i ask is i have heard of these engines under heavy loading,varnishing the oil and blocking the oil pump pick-up.supposedly fixed if you run a 5w30 synthetic oil.

15w-40 or 5w-40 according to the info I have here. Seems quite thick for a modern engine IMO.

We use 10w 30. And replace injector seats and seals every 45 000km.

We use Castrol GTX 15w40 but the 10-30 mag is better for the colder areas. It's not the oil that varnishes and blocks the oil pick up it's the lack of injector seat change that carbons up the oil and blocks the pick up. and as Mugen has posted they need doing at 45k
