Cambelt cost

spoeklet, Sep 9, 9:50am
I have a Toyota corolla 2000 - I don't know when the cambelt has been changed (if ever).
How much is a realistic price to get it changed (and all the associated water pump etc costs) - I don't want to get scammed on the price. I'm in Aucks.

Which engine!
Need the code, not just the size;)

Uh-oh - I am a girly girl with no idea at all about anything to do with cars.

Put your rego number in here: http://www.carjam.co.nz/
This will give you your engine details (plus many more).
You may have to register, but its completely safe and free.

If its an import new shape Corolla,it will be a NZ(1500) series motor or ZZ(1800) series motor which dont have cambelts.A little more information helps.

Obviously the OP has put it in the "too hard" basket and gone shopping for junk that's not actually needed.

The only figure that is relevant is the quote that the person doing the work gives you.

Go to two or three different workshops and ask for quotes.

$400 - $800 give the mechanic a fair go they probably only earn as much as you (if you are working) and they are getting dirty.
