Would anyone know the main cause of Transmission slipping. I suspect I have this problem. When I am accelerating the revs shoots up, the it almost hovers in no mans land before finding a gear (automatic). Is this going to be a expensive fix! It does it every now and again, not everytime I accelerate.

First thing to do is check the auto trans level. In Park and engine idling remove and check level which should be at or near the correct mark "C" cold or "H" hot depending on the engine temp, or between the top and bottom of the machined marks. If however these are correct, then a trans overhaul is imminent. Get several WRITTEN quotes before undertaking this expensive repair. You could consider a second hand transplant but in my opinion is not worth it unless you are strapped for cash.

How long since you changed the trans oil/had it pressure flushed etc.!
