Thinking of buying a Maxima 2003 - 2008. Some have CVT transmission and others have the ordinary automatic transmission.Have been told don't go the CVT way yet others say as long as you service them every 90000km (oil change) you should not have any problems. Looking forward to reading your views about CVT etc THANKS

I think the maxima CVT had the Extroid CVT, Alot stronger and more reliable. Correct me if im wrong.

CVT needs to be fully serviced every 50,000-60,000km with a special oil that Nissan has.
Thanks everyone for their comments. DROG.very interesting reading.

Possibly partly because of the marketing success of VAG DSG, introduction of new 6-9 speed conventional "slush box" autos, and poor reputation of CVT transmission, the % of cars sold worldwide with CVT has been declining for 10 years, and is forecast to go down further.
