Is it illegal to add punctuation (commas, hyphens, apostrophes etc) to a plate! I've seen a number of plates where the owner has drawn on the plate in a black marker pen the various extras above. I would have thought this would be tampering with, and illegal modification of, the plate!

it is illegal, but so long as the apostrophes are correctly used, I tend to look the other way

I have seen a black headed bolt used to alter a plate. You have to attach the plate somehow dont you

Just use a maker pen and if stopped say someone else must have don't it

i have a black tape apostrophe on my plate. nothing ever been said about it.
