You should be able to buy a pair of adapter wires at any stereo shop that should plug any stereo into any car. Start with Jaycar.

Yeah, but only if the original loom plug is there.
Sounds like someone has cut the wires previously.

Yours should match one of those, the positive and negative colours are the same either way.

It says its a switched 12v, so I would assume it would save your pre-sets etc.

Test it first if you like.
All you need is a test light, multi-meter or even an old head light or brake light.
Test for power with the car switched to acc and with it off.
I'm guessing the switch works only when there's a load on it, so that should answer that question without too much fuss;)

If your constant 12v supply is gone, it's real easy to splice off the cigarette lighter feed instead. ( should be always on in that car)
