Can anyone tell me the firing order of a 1996 Mitsubishi Magna engine 4G54 and also where should the little dot on the camshaft cog be when the crankshaft timing is set to as I understand it 11 degrees + or minus 2 degrees past TDS! Would be grateful if anyone can help.

Hi, I think you will find that there are bright links on the chain, and they need to line up with the marks on the sprockets.
I also think(from memory), that you will have to take the front cover off to be sure that all the links(top and bottom), are all aligned.
If it is possible to just align the top sprocket I'm pretty sure it will be that the mark is opposite the centre bolt in the cam, when the motor is at top dead cantre. not after tdc.
Philip Weston is the man to talk to I'd think.

Hi, here's a manual, the one called 2-6 Engine. not the right year but I think it will be help.
Timing should be set to 10 to 12 degrees BEFORE TDC. The firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2.
