Can anyone tell me how to slove a noisey lifter making a tapping noise thats annoying and will it affect the w.o.f.

Wont affect WOF.
Pretty sure lifters are hydrualic so will need replaced to fix properly.
Otherwise oil change plus add some ProMa MBL8

Quite common as these get older. Not usually a worry, it will likely come and go. An oil and filter change often helps, and maybe some additive or other if you wish to. My one comes and goes, but gets worse not long before a service is due, changing o+f every 8000k helps mine. I don't worry too much about it. Not worth the grief to fix unless it drives you that mad.

EDIT: Meant to add, new lifter(s) is the real answer, last time I priced them they were around $18 each, (x12). Plus labour etc.
Fish.

We get a few in at work now since they are getting old, specially taxi's that are up in the mileage, we generally just add some ProMa MBL8 as above and it generally fixes it or quietens it down considerably, specially since Taxi drivers are generally too tight to get it fixed properly!
