Hi, I have a mazda 626 year 2000 which is using oil. Compression test was all at 175 psi, we have replaced the oil filter and use 20/50 oil. It is not blowing smoke, and not leaving oil on the ground. Car appears to being running ok. Any ideas as to why it is using oil!

Nothing wrong with any car using a bit of oil. When its using a litre every 500ks it can still be ok.

Could be getting sucked back through the EGR systems / valve stem seals / weak piston oil control rings /Pcv valve fault & burnt in the cylinders at a small enough rate that you don't see any smoke when looking in the rear view mirror
