The Tiwai Point smelter is Aussie owned by New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited. The Manapouri Dam was built exclusively to supply power just for the smelter at ridiculously low subsidised costs to the detrement of NZer's. New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited have exclusive rights to the water at Manapouri for 99 years. Where do all the profits from that smelter go.Aussie of course.

I doubt a employer would watch you get back to your car to see how you got there. Just park down the road a bit if your that crazy, never had a problem with jobs in my younger days in my old hack. Some employers also frown upon people that use public transport also, even some jobs require you to be a confident driver.
My boss for one hates buses!
