Which 1600 motor!.there are several. 15w-40 or 10w-40 is a good starting point.

THANKS.I am doing the change myself as last done at 115000ks. Was quarter of an inch over max level then,and garage said they should have charged for more oil.Has used down to max. level now.The engine is 16valve DB6 XXXXX ZX. Just a standard 1600.

cheap stuff 15w-40 is good for older models, can get from the warehouse $16

Repco has Castrol Magnatec on special at the moment for $37. Great oil good price. 10W40 semi-synthetic.

Then you take that catalogue to Mega10 and you pay only $31.45 (i buy a few a a time)
