Hi We have a 1994 Toyota Rav4 3 door 4WD Automatic 2000cc Open road about 9.0 litres per 100 km . Around town about 11.0 litres per 100 km Combined about 10.0 litres per 100 km Its not the best overall economy but for a 4WD but much cheaper to run than the bigger 4WDs out there and I would not touch a diesel. Most importantly is my Wife loves this car and thats all that matters. I drive a 1997 Honda Accord VTi Vtec 2200 cc sedan and my fuel ratings are Open Road 6.0 to 7.5 litres per 100 km Around town 9.0 to 10 litres per 100 km Combined8.0 to 8.5 litres per 100 km

A 5 door would have to be slightly worse, you are asking the same drivetrain to move an obviously longer and heavier body.If you added another 1-1.5L/100km to Tuttys figures you would be in the ballpark.I'd be concerned if 14L/100km was an urban norm, you can run six cylinder cars with twice the engine capacity for that or even a bit less under the same conditions.

Have you noticed if the fuel use gets much heavier when you are offroad!

I had a 2009 2.4 4dr as a company car. 11.5l/100km's round town and 9.5/10l/100km's open road.

I was told the 3dr didn't handle very well, prone to do the spin due to the short wheelbase. I thought the Rav was way over priced for what it was, and went for the half price Fielder. I have a Fielder (Corolla) wagon 4wd 2000 import, as a run about. It has a 1.8ltr donk and auto (think some of the Rav's have the same donk). Getting an average 7.8 l/100km, with the worst being skiing season 8.3 l/100km
