bmwnz, Dec 20, 8:04am
Bloody hell! I'm not a Holden fan, but was of the belief that they are sturdy cars. That's almost like a movie prop.

bigjerry, Dec 20, 8:06am
They are very sturdy and safe. Except if you drive into a tree at 160 kph that is.

rob_man, Dec 20, 8:10am
That's had a freaky set of events to do that, the whole rail and inner guard has remained intact along with the suspension on that side.
Edit; remember that Commodores have a glued in firewall, possibly a bit of a weak point.

bmwnz, Dec 20, 8:10am
True! There's not much that could withstand that!

wrong2, Dec 20, 8:17am
trees are just about the worst thing to hit

they are rooted to the ground, & have flexibility combined with enormous strength

stealthbida, Dec 20, 8:22am
farken'n'hell!

richard198, Dec 20, 8:26am
My old HQ would have survived!
The new Holdens are just wannabe Opels!

wrong2, Dec 20, 8:29am
not the VE

cowboy110, Dec 20, 8:29am
I don't think anything would have survived that. Holden or not

xs1100, Dec 20, 8:32am

darryl, Dec 20, 9:16am

scotty20001, Dec 20, 10:07am

wasser61, Dec 20, 10:31am

mike844, Dec 20, 9:43pm
horrible way to die even knew a young girl that died that way but not doing 160k ph she was changing the music in the car

richardmayes, Dec 20, 11:35pm
Lucky for them the car was built in a 1st world country, eh scotty!

[Bigjerry I couldn't see 160km/h or anything more specific than just "at high speed" in the article.! ]

But yeah, there's no such thing as "a good solid car" when you hit almost a metre thick of solid wood at any kind of speed.

rsr72, Dec 20, 11:45pm
Love how the newspaper described the dead driver as. 'incinerated'.
Here it would be. 'Unfortunately passed away at the scene'.

trogedon, Dec 21, 1:20am
It's like someone has Photoshopped the right half of the car there.
