OVAL CARS, has anyone brought off them

mike77, Feb 18, 12:12am
Stories good or bad, It seems they only allow viewing of the cars 1 - 5pm on the day the auction closes, and there are no phone numbers listed.

Rings alarm bells for me, anyone used them!

+1 Well said, have bought from them and its exactly as saggio Papariccardo described.

All the cars I've bought have been rectangular, although one tyre recently became oval and had to be replaced.

There is an opportunity here for a mechanic that specialises in doing inspection reports on ovals cars. There is a small fortune to be made. They get a huge amount of interest in their auctions.

Not a bad idea! You would have to be good and have some liability insurance though, some of there cars have some fairly well hidden surprises.

0l' 'camstain1' again is it

threads 2 years ago about this, someone at the time posted they knew the cars they were selling as low grade (1-3) in japan auctions.

at the time, recent sales he knew the problems that each car had (from the info( chassis numbers ) listed on oval cars site and told us LOL

making you visit cars at that time when the listing is in its final throws is dodgy to say the least and bet you can't remove them from their yard or give it any decent test drive either.

roll the dice.

It's self evident they are buying the cheapest trash that is available and compliable, and selling it to whoever for whatever, you've got to know what you are doing, what models to buy, what models to avoid and what price to pay, simple as that.A lot of the buyers are obviously after the latest model they can get for the cheapest price and don't budget for any nasty surprises, or bother with any sort of PP inspection, which, given what can go wrong with modern cars is a bit foolish.I always make a point of checking their feedback every couple of months, just for the entertainment value.

stay the hell away unless they got better but they used to have there own complyance centre with cars whom got a wof with no brakes and engines falling out off engine bay. they also dont let people test drive cars to do proper test. that was when my mate purchased his toyota caldina unseen from oval plus from people reporting about camstain at the time.

my mate was to late to give him a red face.

How can they be low grade 1-3! Panel damage is pointed out on vehicle details and many have very little which suggests they're 3.5 - 4.5. And a Passat on this week has dodgy trans noted upfront. Most imports are quite dirty first off the boat so that goes with the territory.

phillip.weston, Feb 18, 4:55pm
I thought it was true and was actually proven! Something about same company directors down on the companies registrar.

phillip.weston, Feb 18, 4:59pm
Where have they noted the dodgy trans! It sure isn't on the auction itself or in any of the questions/comments. You have to be a signed up member of their website and search for the vehicle there for any relevant information. Seeing as most people cannot be bothered doing that, the information goes un-noticed.

pat56, Feb 18, 6:53pm
My mistake, it's the VW Golf. There are over 40,000 signed up now which would suggest that most punters would check their website as well as TM.

Poster #2 sums it up pretty good from my experience. Was looking for a 2003> Mazda MPV. Traveled up to inspect 2 vehicles at different times, bid on them but did not win, went for more $$ than I was prepared to pay with the panel damage they had( which was not evident in online photos).
I did purchase one from them unseen for a good price, I needed to replace the snow tyres on them shortly after, and was a bit nervous until I had run some Kms up on it, and dropped the trans oil and replaced the filter.
If in doubt, they do offer mechanical insurance. If at all possible, inspect or get it inspected .
