96 Subaru Outback down on power

My 1996 Subaru Outback ( EJ25 engine) seems to be down on power, and every so often when i go to accelerate it begins to 'stutter', as if it's only running on three cylinders, or starving itself for fuel. Most of the time, if i just 'floor it',it comes right. It even sems to do it at 100km/h(2500 rpm)I have replaced the oxygen sensor, and the fuel filter, but has made no difference. Any Ideas !

Try cleaning the air flow meter.

And also has the air cleaner been changed, they seem to forget these in service these days.

put some new plugs in it ,common issue normally when your sitting at the lights and plant the boot they stutter and miss then shoot off. Put the recommended plugs in (plat) You should be running that on 96 fuel as well- I own 2 ej25 subs of that age so have just about seen every fault with them

I think you mean 95 has 96 has been long gone at the pumps. But other than that good advice.

I would check the afm, spark plugs and leads first. Cheap and easy. We had a impreza that was stutter when accelerating. Fixed it with some new leads.
