If i swap a car with someone (both equal values, both parties agree bla bla bla) and then one of the cars shits itself 100kms down the road - is there any recourse against the old owner!

I would make sure i had it written on a bit of paper swaping *car* for *car* in as is where is condition tho! Signed by both parties and dated. Doesnt hurt to cover your ar$$e!

Yea i wrote up some docs with time, date, drivers/owners names and licence numbers.Car for car swap etc. Nothing has actually gone wrong BTW.Just wondering if this ever happens.

Whats with everyone wanting to do private deals and expecting to have consumer rights. You do your deal and takes your chances, and if something goes wrong fix it.
