Temp of a nissian terrano

dr.bob2, Jan 17, 9:28pm
What is the average temp that my nissian should be running at! its about half way on the open road and in town goes a bit over this just want to make sure its right, would rather do preventative work on it than a big bill when it goes bang, Cheers

How long have you had it, what colour is the coolant and have you ever had the radiator cleaned out or done any other cooling system maintenance!

Flush the entire system. including the heater, fill with plain water, add a bottle of Redlines Water Wetter, you'll be much better off. Stay away from 'antifreeze' as it prevents heat transfer. But, check the thermostat first, it's the cheapest 'fixit'.

Flushing won't do much. Take the radiator out and take it to a specialist to get rodded out, should cost ~$100. Replace the thermostat, and the radiator cap. That should get you away laughing. If it doesn't sort it, then you need to start looking at the water pump.

Spot on.

Can you please explain how!

dr.bob2, Jan 18, 12:58am
Had it 3yrs and has been flushed a couple times in that time think its green

He's right, glycol has shit thermal transfer properties, straight clean water and Redline is the way to go and works very well, it's a corrosion inhibitor as well.

That kinda sounds what I got it booked in for on monday and dads putting in a new thermostat in on the week end (must tell him so he doesnt got fishing instead lol) Just wanted to make sure was heading down the right track

Bare with me cause I know NOTHINGabout motors some does Redline do the samethingas antifreeze, do I ask the mechanic to put that redline in instead!

The temperature gauge is showing what the temperature should be. Nothing wrong leave good alone.
