olds took their auto crv up a slippery slope, put in lowest gear, didnt make it. Was behind them and although front wheels were driving and spinning, rears appeared to be unpowered! Thought those things went into 4wd automatically! Doesn't seem to be any other buttons/switches anywhere.TIA.

Once the fronts break traction power is meant to be applied to the rears

Although your old's CRV may well be a 4wd model, you are aware that not all CRVs are 4wd, right!

May be a casing, but is there anything inside it!!Should there be a designation on the chassis numbers that tells you 2WD or 4WD!
