you could also look at a 2005+ mondeo wagon (MANUAL ONLY) the autos are crap. have a good search though.they seem to be going UP in price at the moment.we sold our mint 2002 wagon done 150,000 for $6500 a couple years ago.now look at what they are going for.

Autos are.average. Manuals are really good until you have to pay someone to do the clutch.

OP- The thing is I could recommend a bunch of GOOD station wagons or even perhaps "long hatch backs"but its hard when we don't know whats important to YOU. Price/fuel economy/power etc. I'll take a punt though and suggest you try a Toyota Ructus. My reasoning, 1) toyota 1500cc vvti engine. -pep and economy 2) plenty of room for dogs. 3) rear seats fold into the floor to give a big wagon when needed 4) on the outside its a smaller H/b

thats correct. ford want about $2500 for a clutch job. i managed to get one done for $1400
i doubt you could find a better 2 liter car than the mondy even with thier faults.i mean a passat of that age is just a $2500 turbo away and the caldinas could blow thier TEMS suspension at $2600 a pair. the mondy is a solid drive.
if i were to look at a corolla wagon it would have to be the 1800. they are a pretty good engine

lancer vrx 2.4 mivec fun car to drive only downside is they are only available in auto. i have heard that the es had a manual optionbut they would be very rare and aren't as nice as the vrx. alot of these wagons will be comming off lease now
