Anyone had similar drama's with their's!F***** me right off for a 116km car.Bought at 78km.

fordcrzy, Mar 16, 9:49am
i'm afraid it's one of those "S*** happens" failures. how many million times do you reckon that valve has gone up and down!

chris_051, Mar 16, 10:09am
should have got a windsor

azza0011, Mar 16, 10:27am
Not nearly enough for my liking mate, ok unsure of previous owners driving practises but my partner drives it most of the time like a nana.As you say S*** does happen!

azza0011, Mar 16, 12:36pm
Thanks for that mellisa2000,am going down that track with local mechanic at the moment. Is my thinking that an engine made to perform should have such issues at what is not an unreasonably high mileage,(granted I don't know its previous history),unreasonable or not!Brother-in-lawhad an 03 and an 05 XR8,both manuals, and drove them to their limits with no problems!

ct9a, Mar 16, 7:18pm
a guy in town here did 9,000km on his new 08 gt-p and put a rod out the side
ring fairveiws and ask how many broken valve springs theyve done .

phillip.weston, Mar 16, 7:59pm
add oil pumps to the list too, and spark plugs which break in half when you try to replace them.

ct9a, Mar 16, 9:35pm
should put a rotor in it,no valve springs .

azza0011, Mar 17, 12:15am
@ct9a Thanks but no thanks!First Ford V8 I've owned because partner has family history with Ford!Had a few V8's over the years,Holden,Chrysler and Chevrolet mostly.First Ford and this happens!Go figure!

ct9a, Mar 17, 12:53am
ah well thatl teach you to stick with chev

chris_051, Mar 17, 6:11am
While it is apart ditch the original plastic timing chain tensioners and get the aftermarket/updated ones aluminuim (iirc) ones ex USA

skin1235, Mar 17, 7:41am
and get real pedantic about oil changes, they don't like dirty oil, the lifters get sluggish returning and then they burn valves, you've had it 40k, have you changed it at dictated intervals, did the previous owner change it when due

azza0011, Mar 17, 8:23pm
@chris_051 thanks for that.@skin12345 would expect previous owner to have kept services up to date, unsure on this.As for ourselves services done to the schedule.Have since seen engine with the head off and is immaculate bar the single valve!

ct9a, Mar 17, 10:55pm
and if you want to go even faster get the v6 supercharged model : )

chris_051, Mar 18, 6:28am
The LS1 is the modern day 2 stroke isn't it., uses just as much oil and wakes up all the neighbours in the morning with all the piston slap.

1fordluva, Mar 18, 6:29am
just to kick it up a notch,so are slylines.

azza0011, Mar 18, 6:45am
C'mon guys, back to the topic at hand!Rotas and Slylines out thank you!

1fordluva, Mar 18, 6:51am
Ok if you are pulling it down do all the valve springs also.

azza0011, Mar 18, 7:42am
@1fordluva Saw mechanic today, both heads off and sent to Neil Shaw Automotive Whangarei for reconditioning. He also said that while talking to local Ford dealer they'd actually had a few of these over the years since the BA XR8's came out!

1fordluva, Mar 19, 1:20am
It does happen,I would get the injectors sonicly cleaned also.
A bad injector can add to speeding these problems up.
As a rule they are not to bad and do plenty of kms.
Hope the bill isnt to hefty, good luck.

3tomany, Mar 19, 11:11am
and holden recon 5% of there v8ts detonating while under warranty is within acceptamal limits lol lol lol lol

lusty9, Mar 19, 12:50pm
Would changing fuel do this, putting 91 then 95!

1fordluva, Aug 4, 6:05pm
No as they run a high octane map and low octane fuel map.
