Right next to where it joins the wheel,is this fixable or is y float a dead now! TIA

Just get a complete new axle made up. Use some decent stubs like Trojan that'll hold a bit of weight.

Just call your local Engineers shop and talk to them, they will need to see it before they can make a prognosis, ie; is it a tandem or single axle etc;Leaf springs or Duro-torque!
