ABS problems! halp! female in NEED

Hello! for all you mechanically minded people out there!

I own an early model Evo and i have problems with what people have told me is my ABS!
I have sporadic knocking coming from the front right, it has no pattern, its really loud, then really quiet, fast, then slow, it happens at random times and it is never under braking or aroundcorner (not my cvs).
Previously i have had issues reversing down my steep driveway, half way down the brake peddle goes straight to the floor and i hear a whirring noise! only on my driveway no where else!

this is what my friend has said:
i thinking if that happens it sould be a leak in one of your brake cylinders occasionally the rubber seals in them wear out thus allowing air into your brake lines and giving your abs sensor a wrong reading of brake pressure being applied causing it to have a spazzim"

HALP

Obviously i cant get to a mechanic monday to friday due to work hours :( and i know the severity of my potential problem, but i am looking for an indication as to the cause of the problem and potential cost and solution of fixing this issue.

One MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILL-
ION dollars!

But seriously, we could say any number, but at the end of the day you are still going to need to get it to a brake specialist or a general mechanic to get it fixed.

Why don't you tell us what part of town you live in, then someone might be able to recommend a good garage for you to take your car to.!

I'd say you're on the right track with the ABS. Unfortunately it's a bit specialist to diagnose over the internerd. I take it the ABS warning light never illuminates!

HAHA yes this car is costing me millions!

No warning light, which makes it strange as i thought it would be a sensor!it has only happened over that last two days, previous history of the car is that i recently had a new rebuilt engine put in, the battery shat itself so i replaced that, advanced my timing, adjusted my CAS, the spongeyness down the driveway i thought could be fixed by a simple brake bleed, but maybe that has deteriorated into something sinister (eek) ,I am living on the North Shore of Auckland and hve been directed to Edgells and Simon Lucas

Well if you are aware that you have serious brake problems I assume that you realise that your chance of having a serious accident and being found at fault is pretty high. And is this the one that you have listed and are trying to sell.

Given it's had recent engine work and would have had the front suspension disturbed to remove the engine and trans the first step surely would be to check that everything on that side is tight and positioned correctly, especially strut bolts, the CV securing nut, brake caliper and also the wheel itself.
