Has recently had new wof, changed the front brake pads and had brakes bled, so why would this come up please, also there is a picture of a tool of a crescent showing up on the dash where the speedometer is! Its an ef2 ford falcon gli 95

most people change the ABS sensors when they do the pads. as far as i know they are a cheap part

auto services also fixed the airbag illuminating all the time and it was 2 fuses blown so they deleted the error, so car is going great, but since having all these stupid error messages coming up on the dash

so will this in any way effect the use of braking!

so is this also the reason for the tool of a spanner coming up on the dash as well by the speedo, letting me know the abs brake sensors need renewing!

I don't know anyone that would do this. It's not practical or economical or preventative. op there will be a fault code stored for the abs that will help pinpoint the problem about all you can do is check the brake fluid. for the abs

ok thanks bigfatmat1, pissing down at the moment so will have to check the brake fluid in the morning, bit worried though as I only got front brake pads done for wof and brake fluid was charged on my reciept for it.Travelled from CHCH to Hamilton on it and its only just come up in the past 2 days while running around in Hamilton. Still have to drive to the farnorth wednesday morning. So I really hope it aint a biggy.

To get rid of the spanner turn the key on but don't start the car then hold in the odometer reset button until you hear it beep and the spanner will dissapear, about 10-15 seconds.

yea my bad, was thinking of brake pad sensors. did them on a few mercs, they were like $6 each and always got done whenever you did pads

read somewhere on the net last nite to take the battery terminals off for 10-15 mins or something like that so willtry that for the abs lights to check to come off. And check brake fluid

no the ford place didnt do it it was an auto services that did it in Rangiora for the airbags to stop illuminating, the front brake pads were done and I paid for the brake fluid as well, and so is the sensors needing replacement as well before I try to reset it to stop illuminating, and does this effect the braking of the car because I have driven from chch to hamilton and still need to get to the farnorth.
farnortherner,

ford places closed in chch due to earthquake at the time of getting the wof, since brakes needed doing I went out of town to get it done due to the aftershocks.

ok that taking the battery off thing didnt work, lol. Oh well so can someone please tell me will that illumination of the: check abs that goes off afterwards effect the braking system at all!

What Kaz meant is that the warning light is there for a reason:) Any Ford specialists re-opened in Chch yet! Or speak to the place in Rangiora that did the original work.
jasongroves,

Oh, are you in Hamilton now!
jasongroves,
Mar 20, 9:22am
Is the ABS light on constantly! Or only for a few seconds after turning the car on!
farnortherner,
Mar 20, 9:24am
It is only on for a few seconds after turning the car on!
farnortherner,
Mar 20, 9:24am
Yes in Hamilton now
farnortherner,
Mar 20, 9:26am
it has only just come on yesterday for the abs light, it wasnt coming up in christchurch or rangiora

I'm more familiar with Japanese vehicles, but generally the ABS light is supposed to come on for a few seconds,(to show it is functioning) then turn off. If it stays on constantly, there is a fault.

The most common fault that usually occurs is that you have a problem with one of the abs sensors that are located behind each of your discs. If you take a wheel off and look behind the disc you will see two lines, one will be your brake fluid line and the other will be your abs sensor line(wiring),you could undo each of them(small nut 8mm if i remember correctly,eb falcon is 10mm) pull them out of there seating positions and give them a clean and also inspect the lines for any damage. They have a connection so you can fully remove them from the car itself and check them over and clean the sensor itself on a bench or where ever then re install them all again(easy as just a bit of labouring taking off the wheels and the jacking up.
