3litre Legacy enquiry.

we keep searching for a wagon we can afford (2kids,2 adults). The 3 litre lancaster legacys have a fuel rating of 3.5 /6. This is the same as the Mazda Atenza. Is this correct! Also, are the chain driven engines ok!

the 3l subaru is chain driven, the 2.5 is belt. Ive got a 2.5 outback and get 36-37mpg on a run, but averages 28mpg overall which is about 10l/100km. The 3l will be a bit thirstier than that.

We've had both the Atenza and a Subaru legacy (twin turbo 2L) and around town the Legacy beats the atenza hands down but on trips the Atenza shines

No they're not thirsty - my 3L does about those mpg/kmpl.
Zeph told me the water pumps crap out, so I ignored him and brought one. (Hope he doesn't have the last laugh) I like it, nice and smooth, but I miss the overtaking grunt of the Turbo's.

The 2wd Atenza/6 should be quite good on fuel for its size, certainly better than an H6 Legacy

Thats what i thought, but according to fuelsaver website, apparently not.
