nah jason, that ugly beast is FWD. The marina (ugly too) is RWD

(referring to your first link)

jasongroves, May 6, 9:23am
Ahh.so it is.ooops.

morrisman1, May 6, 9:24am
dont worry, I got corrected for the very same mistake about a week ago.

jasongroves, May 6, 9:25am
Just put a 4AGE and T50 gearbox in it and be done with it;)

ginga4lyfe, May 6, 9:27am
a morris minor running gear would be similar, but not great, It would be better for you to find a Datsun a12 engine and running gear very similar and heaps easyer to convert to injection

jasongroves, May 6, 9:29am
May as well use an A15 if you going to go that route.

mgmad, May 6, 9:34am
RWD 1275 A series engines are getting hard to find, and as such have been commanding quite high prices up around the $1k mark. Gearboxes less expensive but still hard to find as a lot tend to throw them away (they are a bit crap). It is possible to get recon boxes ex UK though. Diffs come up for sale from time to time, try on here or car clubs, all the bits to recon them are still available new including new CW&P sets, but they're not cheap.

ginga4lyfe, May 6, 9:41am
I was thinking about mentioning the A15 But wasnt too sure whether or not the engine was all that great!

I had one of those beasts years ago, I repowered it with aHolden starfire motor and box out of a UC Sunbird. Was an easy transplant and went well.

jasongroves, May 6, 9:58am
No offence.but a Starfire! Eewww!

robinm1, May 6, 10:07am
It was a long time ago, the starfire was a modern near new motor at the time.

franc123, May 6, 10:10am
Yechhh, wouldn't that have netted a car with no more performance but worse economy lol! Those thing were regarded as bottom of the pile even when new.

robinm1, May 6, 9:20pm
Sorry, mind was a bit hazy after all the years past since the conversion, it was not the starfire, it was the 1900 opel motor from the LH torana now I think about it.

mrfxit, May 6, 9:38pm
EEWWWW holy crap . NOOOooooo not a 1900 Opel . surly NOT
Good grief those ARE the bottom of the biggest pile of crap motors EVER put in to a Holden.

The 1900 Star fire motor was in fact a fairly good motor in it's day, altho mostly because it was basicly a cut down red holden 6cyl 173ci.
A lot of the parts could still be interchanged between the 4cyl & any of the 6cyl versions (black or red)

mrfxit, May 6, 9:40pm
Hell no, the Holden Star fire had better performance all round (except for the jap stuff)

elect70, May 7, 1:58am
been toldbox same as triumph toledo.

franc123, May 7, 6:14am
Than what, a ride on mower! The lack of peformance and economy from the Starfire was appalling.Worse than that of a 2L-T powered Surf in fact which is saying something :)0-100km/h in 19 seconds anybody! In fact ditch the stopwatch and use an egg timer instead.

elect70, May 8, 12:36am
I remember that star fire thing in early commies, huge POSwouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding

mrfxit, May 8, 12:57am
LOL . Still pretty sure you're all confused between the Opel (large black tin tappet cover) & the cut down holden 6 with a narrow blue tappet cover.

The Opel was the most gutless 1900cc engine I had ever driven
