Transmission/engine seal on 2.5l legacy.

is this a major job to get done if its leaking a tad, not major but leaving marks on the driveway. Easier to get done during cambelt , water pump etc replacement!

Which seal are you referring to!If its the front crank seal yes do it with the cambelt, if its the rear seal the engine will have to come out.Are you sure the rocker cover gaskets are not leaking too!

Also are the rocker cover gaskets genuine or aftermarket has often with subaru's the aftermarkets will leak later down the track and the genuine are fine. I have changed several of them at work and the genuine rarely come back.

its on a car im looking at purchasing, it must be the rear seal, you can smell the oil leaking onto the exhaust. Is it quite a big labour intensive job!

i had a quick peek under the bonnet, the rocker cover gaskets looked fine, but being a Subaru I would also expect them to spring a leak at some point.
