As long as the trye size is within 2% of each other can have different size on the same axle.

The legislation only applies to tyres on the same axle.

Bugger.Just got new tyres.Had one directional, and three straight running.One of them (not the directional) was also a 65 while others were 70.

I suspect it might be a possibility that some abs systems don't cope well with 2 different wheel heights which effects rotational speeds hence sensors

For simplicity's sake. Same per axle .
load rating (within 1 ratings) (legal for 2!) Ratio sizing Very similar or same tread design Type (directional/ asymmetrical/ conventional /commercial) (Snow must be all 4 )
Anything out of that & you may have to come up with some spec's for the wof to prove it's ok
